Anyone operating any type of recreational powered watercraft is now legally required to show proof of competency. This requirement includes powerboat owners, sail boat owners with an auxiliary engine, dinghy owners, personal watercraft owners and also applies to your spouse, partners, friends, or guests who take the helm of your boat or jet ski. Fines for non-compliance are now applicable.

Oak Bay Squadron’s Boating Basics course will prepare you for the Personal Craft Operators Certificate (PCOC) examination. It is accredited by Transport Canada.

Crossing the Border? This Canadian Power and Sail Squadron ‘Boating Basics’ course is the only one for obtaining a PCOC that is recognized and approved by the US National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and the US Coast Guard.
